It looks like you've got v8 / 9 / 10 from the screenshot. Sometimes it's easiest to handle floating traps on numbers by trapping on the BBN - the two leading spaces before the first N - and then on NBB - the last number followed by two spaces, and grabbing everything between them. Sometimes you need to trap the decimal . as a trap character and grab the numbers to the left and to the right of this as two fields, then combine using val(Field1+"."+Field2).
The screenshot just shows two records - is there always some data in each field? Does the descriptive block of text always start with an Alpha or can that sometimes be a special or numeric character? And if you need floating traps at all - is this from a PDF?
Hi Olly (and Armand),
I have v12.5.4 running. I tried doing "BN." on that field but no success - Dropbox - trapfloat_period.PNG
The field with "2.60" is the right-most field in the line so I can't extend the template.
The report is in PDF format.
I agree with Olly on this one, just extending the template should be an option. I tried testing the issue on my end using the sample data from the screenshot of your PDF file and I was able to get the desired results.
May I also ask if it really needs to be a floating trap as well since from the sample data they look well aligned enough to warrant just normal trapping.
If this is not the case I think that this needs to be investigated further with the report file. You may forward a request to email@example.com for further assistance on the issue.
