Crash problem with Monarch Pro Version 10.0.0

    Paul Young

      Hi,

Don't know if anyone can help or not.  Myself and one of my colleagues have a recurring issue with version 10.0.0 where the application always crashes a few seconds after applying any saved model to any imported data.  We are both running office 2007 and windows 7 professional.  2 of our colleagues also use the software and have no issues, they are also on Windows 7, but they are running office 2010.  Not sure if that's whats causing the problem.  Crash data below.

Any help would be appreciated as Im out of my depth!

      Thanks

      Paul

          Hello Paul,

Monarch v10 was developed before Windows 7 existed, so can't be supported on that platform. That said, in some cases it runs OK. Things to watch out for are the bitness of Office - Monarch v10 is only 32 bit, so you need 32 bit Office.

How are you using it? When you import the data, are you opening a text report file or opening a database file or connecting to a data source? Are you doing this with a user sat in front of the machine, or trying to do automate it?

If you're automating it, my hunch is that Monarch is finding something in the data or format or connection string, wants to pop up a dialog, and that as it's being automated it crashes.

          Best wishes,

          Olly

              Thanks Olly!

It ends up 3 of us are running 32 bit office 2007, two have problems of the application crashing, the other using the same files, is fine.  We have tested using the same data files and models, 1 works the other 2 crash.

We are importing a bespoke data file exported from our ERP and manually applying a presaved model.  Within a few seconds of opening the model, we get the error message I pasted.  We have tried coping the system files from the users setting that works.  It still crashes.

Strangely i can open up a text file, create a new model template and apply it and it seems to work fine, however when you put into table view the data wont export, it won’t even copy and paste!  As soon as you save the new working model and try and open it, the application goes back to crashing!  I have update the .Net framework and updated the service packs fopr office 2007, but nothing seems to make any difference.

              Regards

              Paul

I am having the same problem with version 10.01. Worked fine on my old HP desktop running Windows 7 and now won't work on my new Lenovo desktop running Windows 7 as well...Any ideas?

Also on a side note, my install only went to 95% and then stopped...

Long shot... go to Control Panel - Windows features, look for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and make sure that it is checked.
