    Trapping/Extracting Single Line

    mivanows _

This is an Excel file exported to prn file and opened in Monarch V6.

      Order Detail

      TCBN BENEFITS & INSURANCE, INC.

      VendorID: 78543                      03/01/2010 - 03/31/2010

      Hyperlinks to: (Compensation Statemen(Earnings Detail)

      Commercial Only DT Commission

I am done with the detail part but I have problem with append part.

It was easy to append the line "Vendor ID:......" but how can I extract the line bellow "Order Detail" that it is the vendor name?

          Hello Mark,

With v6, I'm pretty confident that you can use footers, multiline traps and some of the other advanced field options...

          Order Detail

          TCBN BENEFITS & INSURANCE, INC.

          VendorID: 78543 03/01/2010 - 03/31/2010

          Commercial Only DT Commission[/CODE]

If every record has the same five lines, you could select a five line region as your sample and have one detail template. But trapping it in separate templates gives you a bit more flexibility in case the layout changes.

Assuming your Vendor ID is the detail line that you have selected, you would then be right to use an Append for the Order Detail. Make a one line sample on Order Detail and highlight a field in that line. Then double click in this highlighted area on the S bar of the trap dialog. This should bring up the file properties. Click on the advanced tab and set the field to "Begin on line number 2".

          HTH,
