    External Lookup problem

      Hi

       

      Can anyone tell me if you can use an alphanumeric field as a lookup matcher.  I am trying to link i.e AF06 to AF06 and bring back 3379

       

      When i do it i just get blank column

       

      HELP!

          Hi Karen,

           

          Yes you can link using alphanumeric.  I have some set up that way and have no problems.

           

          You may want to check to see if there are any leading or trailng blank spaces in either of the tables you are using as that can cause that problem. 

           

          If so, you may need to do some trimming to get the fields to match.

            In addition to Ralph's guidance have you double checked whether the o is an O or a 0?
