# Calculate Growth Percentage

Using V.8

I've created my summaries and charts for Revenue Year over Year and everything looks good numbers wise.

However I'm having difficulty figuring out how to show the growth in percentage for the following:

Year.....Branch.....Revenue

07........10.......... 3,700,000

07........Other...... 2,600,000

08........10.......... 5,700,000

08........Other...... 2,900,000

Summary............14,900,000

I don't want Percentage of Total.  What I want to show is % Growth Year over Year for Branch 10 and % Growth Year over Year for Branch "Other".   The manual calculation for Branch 10 is (5.7mil / 3.7mil = 54% Growth) and Branch Other is (2.9mil / 2.6 mil = 11.5% Growth).

How would I create the expression in the summary definition?

Hi Mark,

This has been bothering me all day, but I think that I've figured it out.

It needs a little voodoo Monarch.

You'll need to do a little ground work in the Table window before you can get what you want in a Summary.

You'll need two fields: "07 Revenue" and "08 Revenue" with the expressions:

if(Year="07",Revenue,0)
and

if(Year="08",Revenue,0)
Good. Now in the summary, the key field is Branch and the measure field needs this expression:

SUM()/SUM()-1
Format it as a percentage and change the name Year Over Year % Growth.

That'll do it.
