    Need help in trapping

    dezideroo98 _

I am new to this and need your advice. I am trying to trap for the following data: date in APP and in DUE field. I am also wanting to trap for the data in fields ESC-PD and ESC-BAL. The purpose is to build a table :

Loan number     APP     DUE      ESC-PD    ESC-BAL. Attached is a sample of the report.

        • Need help in trapping

          OK.

If you Loan Number is the first page line with LN 1234567891 then I woould suggest trapping on that line with a 5 line sample for the template.

Paint the field for the Loan Number in the first line.

In line 2 paint a field in the horizontal position where the date column you want to report appears. It does not matter that the column is not in the sample nor that the sample contains other information where you paint the field. Go to the field properties and select the Advanced Properties tag. Set the 'Start field on' value to have a 'Preceding String' of app . Your field should now appear on the line which has APP over to the left.

On the next line create a field for the DUE date using the same concept.

On the next line do the same for ESC-PD and ESC-BAL on the line after that.

If the columns for the ESC-PD and ESC-BAL fields do not overlap the horizontal positions of the APP or DUE fields you could put them on the same line and reduce the sample to be only 3 lines. This can sometimes be helpful when some record in a report are very short and samples must refelct the shortest record for Monarch to capture all the data, but that does not seems to be a problem here based on the sample report pages presented.

If I have guessed wrongly about the loan number the concpet of the approach will still work but you may need to adapt the sample size and trap setting to suit.

As is so often the case  on the forum you have subjected to 'Newbie' syndrome and been forced to dive straight in to some of the more advanced aspects of Monarch. Don't worry. You are not alone in that experience! The knowledge gained will make life easier sooner.

          HTH.
