Postal Trap or Variable Address Lines

    DataUserMedicare _

I have the following situation where I need to capture from the header section both the Physician Id, Name, Address, and the Period. The problem is that the Address may have 2 or 3 lines. In this example it has three, the majority have only two.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you can trap (on the full report) using the first line of the record:

          000000041 / WISCOVITCH VELEZ, ARMANDO /code

And using a 2 line sample:

          000000041 / WISCOVITCH VELEZ, ARMANDO

          SUITE 102 PMB 379

          /code

Then select the fields you want from the first line and paint a single field for the entire second line. Set the field's ADVANCE PROPERTIES to "END ON"  'none of the above'. (unless some other option works on the full report).

          Save the template.

Now create a template for the date line:

For the Period 08/01/2008 To 08/31/2008

          /code

Make this a FOOTER template. Take the fields you require from it as usual.

The address field from the first template should now auto adjust to the number of lines it contains.

Use the ADDRESS BLOCK functionality if you need to split the address into component parts.

          HTH.

Thanks for your reply, I am new to this product.

With the advanced properties I was able to get the screen to highlight correctly, but the multiple address lines are not created as multiple columns on the table.

I seem to have progressed, so please ignore the previous post. In the following example you can see that Monarch V9 Pro is now catching almost everything well, except that it is grabbing the line prior to the first address line when there are only two address lines.

                  Hi,

SOuns like you are almost there.

By the way I have corrected a typo in my original post which would probably have been very confusing but I think you are beyond that point now.

Are you using the Postal Trap (Zip Code) for your template?

If so it should be better if you use an ordinary trap to extract the address as a multi line sinmgle field and then the Address Block functionality to separate that into address field components if required.

If you are not using the Postal Trap I am slightly puzzled as to why you get the extra line but if you could describe precisely how you are defining the templates I will see if I can reproduce the effect.

Address data in databases will often contain records that do not obey automated analysis rules and may need individual correction but the extra line problem you have sounds more like a template definition matter than a data format problem.

                  HTH.
