    Delimiter in Input file

    LITTLEBOY _

      Hello,

I have a question about delimiter of input file.

The data is as below format:

      NAME;JACKY CHEN;AGE;20;JOB;C PROGRAMMER

      COMPANY;ABC COMPANY;DEPARTMENT;IT AND SYSTEM

      ...

      ...

      NAME;SOFIE;AGE;25;JOB;HR

      COMPANY;DEF LTD;DEPARTMENT;HUMAN RESOURCE

      ...

      ...

      (end of the file

      )

As the length of NAME field is dynamic, how can I retrieve field/value of AGE and JOB?

The same question to get DEPARTMENT field.

          Hi

The best approach would be to either to use the floating trap, or to grab the whole line as a single field and use the LSplit/RSplit functions.

Have you tried opening your file up as a database instead of as a report.  Then you can pick your delimter.  Everything else works the same.

            Good luck!
