    Database Event Logs

    klim _

Hi, I'm a newbie with Monarch.

I hope to be able to use Monarch to parse this log.  It looks like an XML file, but not quite.  My goal is to make it a true XML file, or failing that, extract the data values.

I tried trapping, but being a newbie, I don't quite know how to trap variable-length data values.  Furthermore, each line has a variable number of data elements depending on the type of transaction.

Any help you can provide me is very much appreciated.  Thank you.

Assuming you have Version 6 Pro you may get the input you need to make some progress from the Help Files - search for Floating and have a look at the floating trap information, part of which works with exactly this sort of output file.

See where that takes you first ( I found it very useful when I first looked at it) and if it still leaves some tricky questions let us know.

You may also find the Field > Options > Start/End field on worth reviewing but you may not need it. Depends on your requirements.

Hope this gives you a start.
