    Summary subtotals

    JCC _

Would like to find a way to subtotal for each different identifier in the ID column the amounts in the totals column. I just need to display one total for each ID without an actual "subtotal line". Can this be done in a summary view? I am using Pro V.7.00. Thanks for your help.

      From this:

        date      ID          Total

      5/16/2007  00057      $3,924.37

      5/16/2007  00084      $5,863.82

      5/16/2007  00085      $1,228.02

      5/17/2007  00057      $3,956.23

      5/17/2007  00084      $6,025.15

      5/17/2007  00085      $1,162.27

      To this:

        date      ID          Total

      5/16/2007  00057      $7,880.60

      5/16/2007  00084     $11,888.97

      5/16/2007  00085      $2,390.29

Set the summary as ID (then, optionally, date to give you a drill level to play with) and use the Total field as the measure.

As it is your required layout would be wrong since the values apply to more than one date.

Thank you Grant. I have got the model to subtotal by ID, however I am not sure of how to get the date to display with the ID and Totals columns with the date in the first position.

To see what can be derived from the summary you can quickly experiment by moving the columns (re-order them in the Key Fields list) and see the results of drilling up and down.

Your data has 2 dates. If you make the date field the first column there will always be two dates and the data will be segregated into subtotals by date.

To produce the final presentation some other way could be done but not without some extra work in the process and I'm not clear about how doing that would help the result or what date to use.
