    SQL and Monarch 8

    Dubrey _

So far when working with the ODBC Connection for SQL views in Monarch 8 I have found that I am not Able to select my own field type as I can when I "Trap" information via a model.  The field type is already selected for me...

Example - Usually you can select Field type; numeric, or general or date from a drop down.

Is this having to do with Monarch 8 or is there something I am not doing to overcome this?

          Hello,

When you import data from a database such as SQL or dBase, Monarch automatically utilizes the data types from the database. If, for any reason, you need a different field type, you can create a calculated field to convert from the old type to the new type. For example, if you have a character field called CharField, and it always contains numerical values, you could define a calculated field called NumField, and the formula would be val(CharField).
