    One footer template constraint

Is there anyway to get around the one footer template constraint? I have a report where details come first then the append lines afterwards. Any help is appreciated.

There's always a way around (usually several)...though it may require looking at

things differently - and probably a multi-step process. There's no getting around the 1 footer limitation.

Without seeing an example of your data though it'd be tough to guess what might work.

If your record structure is fixed (ie, always 7 lines - the same 7 lines), a multi-line trap may work. If not or other issues are present, you may have luck with one model that traps the "append" data, outputs to dbf or some other usable database join source, and a 2nd model trapping the "detail" and enough of the "append" in a  footer to create a working 'key' field to join with the 1st output.

/b[/quote]Greg is spot on with this.

Assumiing you have 3 footers which are really summaries at different summary levels the option of a multi line footer would not be an option.

However you may be able to 'fudge' things to make the other two levels available as appends.

Failing that a two pass option, as Greg suggests, or perhaps even using the first pass to simply re-order the layout of the report to apply the difficult footers ABOVE the detail and so enable them to be appended might work.

You are into areas where the only way to be at all sure that a suggestion has a chance of working is to see an example of the layout. I owuld be happy to check it out if you can either post a sample in the forum or arrange to make a sample available privately if you would prefer.

Send me a private message if you want to consider the latter idea.
